For over 43 years Bill Mason has pursued the passion of
fly fishing. He was the pioneer of outfitting and guiding on the Henry's Fork of the Snake
River. He also helped start the first "real" fly shop in Boise Idaho. In 1972
Bill started a professional outfitting and guide service in the resort of Sun Valley. He saw the need for a quality guiding
service on the now famous waters of Silver Creek and other rivers of the area. He
operated the Snug Fly Shop for 15 years with some of the finest new guides in the country.
Now after purchasing Snug and renaming it Bill Mason Outfitters, he continues to give the
the visiting and local fly-fisher the best service possible. Bill has been a key factor in
identifying the insect hatches of Idaho and inventing fly patterns to match them. He has
written many articles and contributed to other works on fly fishing. Bill's book Fly
Fishing, Learn From a Master is a perfect "how to" book for beginners and
expert alike. His other book, Guide To Fly Fishing Idaho is a simple yet
informative guide to the better fly waters of Idaho. The locals of Sun Valley also enjoy a weekly fishing
report in the Mountain Express written by Bill. He now spends most of his time with his
wife and two children and still finds time for golf and his passion for fly fishing.
